The journey to the climax, the ultimate battle between good and evil for the treasure, has some interesting revelations, heading for a finale with an interesting twist.

Movie Review: 'Elektra" (PG-13)<br/><br/>2.5 out of 5 Starring: Jennifer Garner, Goran Visnjic, and Kristen Prout Directed by: Rob Bowman<br/><br/>Let's be honest: "Elektra" is not a great movie. But you don't go to a movie like this looking for the next Best Picture Academy Award-winner. Don't get me wrong – "Elektra" is not a bad movie. If I were 13 years-old again, I would totally love it. However, I'm not 13, and while there were exciting moments and some cool action scenes, the plot felt predictable and weak. The highlight of the movie is, of course, Jennifer Garner, who performs very wellthe titular character; she carries the movie, making it tolerable for the audience even when the story gets slow.<br/><br/>The movie "Elektra" is based on the character created for the Marvel comic book "Daredevil" by Frank Miller (writer and co-director of the upcoming "Sin City" movie). "Elektra" picks up where the events of the movie "Daredevil" leave off – even though she died at the end of that movie. She has been brought back to life and trainedan assassin by a group of warriors called "Kirigi," who are led by a man named "Stick." Sent out on her own, Elektra is hired to kill a man named Mark Miller (Goran Visnjic) and his daughter Abby (Kristen Prout); however this proves harder than planned. When she fails to kill her targets, a group of ninja assassins with special powers called "The Order of the Hand" are sent to finish the job and kill Elektrawell.<br/><br/>The movie falls short in many aspects, mainly the fact that it's predictable from the very beginning. As sooncharacters are introduced, you know what's going to happen. The only people who don't are obviously the characters themselves. There are really no surprises in this movie; however, there are some exciting moments, which at least keep the audience interested. Jennifer Garner performs well, but that's not really a surprise either, considering she not only played Elektra in another movie, but basically plays this role every week on her TV show "Alias."<br/><br/>"Elektra" does have its moments – it's shot well and some of the locations are beautiful. The acting is quality even though the actors are relying on a weak script. The action sequences are full of wirework and special effects, which sometimes work and other times fall way short. A standout scene seems to be borrowed directly from the movie "Hero." Elektra is attacked or, more specifically, kissed by an enemy who drains her life while the leaves in the forest around them turn from green to black and cover the ground around them. While it may not be a direct theft from another film, it does symbolize what's wrong with the movie: it's just not original.<br/><br/>There are some good special effects which help to keep the story moving, and there aren't too may cheesy one-liners or clichés. If you're looking for a rather mindless movie with decent special effects but nothing really original, than "Elektra" is the movie for you. If you have teenagers or have the mentality of one, then this movie is also perfect for you. "Elektra" is in the same categorythe many comic book movies before it. It's what happens when someone who doesn't read comic books is asked to write a PG-13 movie based on one, that somewhat resembles the original story. And that's all it is.
This movie picks up where Daredevil left off. Jennifer Garner reprises her rolethe sultry, but lethal assassin, Elektra. It apparently appears she was more well-liked in both movies than just Daredevil himself. Garner plays Elektra very well, the outfit she wears was much better than the one in "Daredevil", in my opinion. Her body, however is even hotter than a volcano erupting.<br/><br/>Stick was great, and Terence Stamp did a great job at it. Seems like he was the most untouchable character in Marvel comics. The Hand were a very creepy group to be dealing with. Stone, played by Bob Sapp, was the most intimidating figure around. Too bad his plans were "crushed". Typhoid is the one character I must definitely avoid! One kiss and it's lights out forever! All the other characters including Tattoo were amazingwell. The effects were outstanding, and the storyline is too much to ask for.<br/><br/>This movie is definitely a plus in my book, it was so intense, I might want to see it again, and again! A 10+!
Watching this is like sitting by a pinsetter at a bowling alley. That's too bad, because the picture had potential.
In order to be able to get more people into the cinemas, the movie was cut down for a PG-13 rating. When the DVD hit the store, the original Director's Cut was released.
